Wave Defense with a Tactical Twist

Valley of Wolves: Survival Action, developed by Merlot Games and released in August 2024, drops players into a dynamic environment where the goal is simple: survive each wave of opponents. What separates it from standard wave shooters is the emphasis on environmental strategy. Scattered objects around the area—most notably explosive barrels—can be detonated at the right moment to clear groups of enemies. This turns positioning and timing into primary skills rather than afterthoughts.

Reading the Battlefield

A mini-map is central to planning. It tracks opponent movements, letting you anticipate where groups will appear and adjust your position before they close in. That information feeds directly into decisions about when to trigger barrels, when to fall back, and when to push for a clear. The first-person perspective keeps you close to the action, while the mini-map provides the broader awareness needed to avoid being surrounded.

Progression Between Waves

After each successful wave, you earn currency that can be spent on upgrades before the next round begins. This progression system is the main way to keep pace with increasingly difficult waves. Upgrades improve your equipment, making later waves more manageable, but the game still rewards accuracy and resource conservation. Saving special items for moments when you are surrounded is a practical habit, not just a suggestion.

Platform and Controls

Built with WebGL, the game runs in modern browsers on PC, mobile phones, and tablets. Keyboard controls handle movement and actions, while the mouse is used to aim and interact with the environment. The controls are designed to be intuitive enough for quick learning, though mastering aim and movement takes practice. The game is family-friendly and suitable for players aged 12 and up.
